BOGOTÁ – Main sights! ~ Pontos principais!
So! As promised, for a few days this blog will focus in a new country, the one to “blame” for my recent lack of posts: Colombia! In 12 days, 3 departamentos were known, in a very busy trip never to forget. We’ll start with the capital, Bogotá, a huge 8-million people city, where traffic, music and a lot going on quickly gets the visitor aware of how big the city is. Descriptions under the photos!

Então! Como prometido, por alguns dias este blog se concentrará em um novo país, o “culpado” por minha ausência recente de posts: a Colômbia! Em 12 dias, conheci 3 departamentos, em uma viagem super agitada, inesquecível. Vamos começar com a capital, Bogotá, uma cidade enorme com 8 milhões de habitantes, onde trânsito, música e muita coisa acontecendo faz com que o visitante rapidamente perceba o quão grande a cidade é. Candelária – the heart of the metropolis, downtown! ~ o coração da metrópole, o centro!
Botero is Colombia´s most famous artists, and this is the inside of the museum dedicated to him! His paintings and collections are distributed around this cute hall ~ Botero é o artista mais famoso da Colômbia, e esse é o interior do museu dedicado a ele! Suas pinturas e coleções ficam em volta desse jardim super fofo
Going up to Montserrate requires a little effort – lines to the funiculaire or lift, a little walk up and 3.170 meters above the sealine. But the view and what is up there makes it worth it – you realize how big a city is when you can´t see the end of it! ~ Subir ao Montserrate exige um pouco de esforço – filas para o funiculário ou teleférico, uma caminhada para subir e 3.170 acima do nivel do mar. Mas a vista e o que está lá em cima compensam – você percebe quão grande é uma cidade quando não consegue enxergar o fim dela!
Still up on Montserrate, this is the front of a big church at the top – people gather to attend mass, go up to the stores or restaurants, or simply hang out relaxing ~ Ainda em cima do Montserrate, essa é a frente de uma grande igreja no topo – as pessoas se reúnem para assistir à missa, subir para as lojas ou restaurante, ou simplesmente relaxar
Colombia is generally a very catholic country, and there are churches everywhere. This one is located in downtown, and is called Santuario Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Inside, it’s even more different, full of white and red (kind of feels like seeing Waldo everywhere)!
~ A Colombia é, em geral, super católica, e tem igreja em todo lugar. Esta fica no centro, o Santuario Nuestra Señora del Carmen, e dentro ela é mais doida ainda, com branco e vermelho em abundância (me senti vendo o Wally por todos os lados)!
The nice thing about walking ramdomnly around Bogota´s dowtown area is seeing many buildings from the colonial times well preserved. Bricks and stones, pastel tones and big windows make up the setting, taking us back to a time that we barely know about and to history – the spanish arrival left very strong features! ~
O legal de caminhar a esmo pelo centro de Bogotá é ver os inúmeros prédios da época colonial preservados. Tijolos e pedras, tons pasteis e janelões formam o cenários, e nos levam de volta a uma época que pouco conhecemos e à história – a chegada dos espanhois deixou traços bem fortes!
